Spoiler: there's no one-size-fits-all answer. Depending on project goals, requirements and scope, the various solutions on the market each bring different advantages. Over years of working with no-code tools like Elementor, Divi, Wix, Webflow and Shopify, we've seen first-hand what it takes for the right choice to make a web project succeed.

Whichever tool you choose, your website stays as individual as your company

The wide range of goals, KPIs and requirements behind a website relaunch largely determines the choice of the right CMS and low-code or no-code framework. There is now a huge number of providers on the market (WordPress, Elementor, Webflow, Wix, Jimdo, Squarespace, …).

At Digit-One we distinguish between four key use cases among our clients, and the approaches that follow from them:

  • E-commerce or online shop use case: here we rely without reservation on Shopify
  • Corporate website use case with extensive, complex content but lower technical requirements: here we rely on WordPress with an Elementor frontend
  • Landing pages, marketing websites, corporate websites, interactive and scrollytelling websites: here we rely on Webflow
  • Complex corporate websites with interface and API integration: here we rely on our high-performance, modular WordPress architecture

WordPress & Elementor

The advantages of WordPress as the CMS for your new website project are obvious — WordPress is extremely easy to operate and suitable for any user. Functionality and integrations can be extended at will without becoming overly dependent on third parties. That means almost any requirement can be met with WordPress.

Shopify vs. Shopware

There is now a wide range of options in the online shop space. Some e-commerce solutions differ substantially, so the choice of the right shop system should be grounded in your company's goals and strategy.

Webflow

If your requirements for the new website lean heavily towards brand awareness, storytelling or product placement, Webflow may well be the tool of choice. Beyond that, building with Webflow is particularly worthwhile for marketing landing pages and smaller corporate websites.

Despite its built-in CMS, we would not recommend Webflow for websites that are heavy on content and integrations — for those, WordPress and, where appropriate, Elementor are the better bet.

Our verdict on choosing the right tool

Our verdict on choosing the right tool: take the time you need to define your goals and direction clearly. We're happy to support you and your company in making that decision. Once your concept is settled, the choice is usually quick to make on the basis of the points above.
