My Onboarding at Digit-One

Director Clients & Operations, Co-Founder @ Digit-One
My path to Digit-One, my first day on the job and why I feel so at home here.
Why Digit-One?
Hi 🙋🏻♀️ My name is Julia, I'm 27 and I'm studying computer science part-time at FH Vorarlberg.
I met Sami at the start of our studies and heard a great deal about Digit-One. My interest in this young digital agency grew pretty quickly. In mid-2023 I was invited in for an informal chat where I got to meet all the co-founders. The chemistry was right from the word go — and so I decided to become part of the Digit-One team!
My start
On 7 August I threw myself into my first day at work full of energy. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my desk wasn't just set up with all the essential kit — it had been decorated too, with Digit-One merch and a handwritten welcome card waiting for me. After our first coffee together in the daily, I was handed my Trello board and got straight to work. So on day one I was already getting stuck into JavaScript and PHP intros. That spared me hours of sitting alongside someone and just watching over their shoulder. 🫶🏻 I'm still grateful today for being given real work straight away! The Trello tasks kept me busy for the first two weeks, and I could put my own workload together and switch between intros and courses depending on how I felt. An incredibly well-thought-out and productive start — one I'd never experienced before.

Those are just four of the reasons I feel so at home at Digit-One. The benefits are honest and they're honoured. Communication is always friendly and on equal footing. Transparency in every area gives me a sense of belonging and a real say. From day one, a lot of care went into making sure I felt included, that I got to work on good and interesting projects, and that my skills were put to use and developed.

My verdict on the onboarding process
Onboarding at Digit-One is highly organised, well thought out and helped me enormously in finding my feet in a new working routine. I was able to contribute actively to projects after a very short time, which did wonders for my motivation. I could apply what I'd learned straight away and I was introduced to new topics very patiently. The Trello board was tailored to me personally, to close certain gaps across different programming languages. Working in an agile way with the sprint board also helped me get my tasks done on schedule and dive deeper into every project. In short: this is the best onboarding process I've ever been through. I'm very proud to be part of the Digit-One team and I'm looking forward to plenty more interesting and challenging projects!
