Storyblok is a headless CMS with a **visual editor**: your team sees exactly how a page will look while editing, and assembles new pages from ready-made components. Ideal for **marketing-driven websites, multi-site setups and multilingual platforms** where content is constantly moving.

We are based in **Bregenz** and work with teams in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

## The CMS your team **actually enjoys using**

Digit-One is a **Storyblok partner**: we advise, build with Next.js and stay on board after go-live.

## Why Storyblok? Freedom with guardrails

The visual editor is why editorial teams love Storyblok: **editing means seeing.** No abstract form-filling, but the real page, live in the editor. New landing page? Your marketing team builds it themselves, without a ticket to the agency.

To make sure nothing breaks, we build the **guardrails**: a component system in which your team designs freely while every element automatically stays on brand. Freedom for the editors, consistency for the brand.

Underneath runs our proven stack: **Next.js for performance**, clean structures for SEO and AI visibility, and internationalisation that makes multilingual content genuinely manageable. In multi-site setups, Storyblok truly shines: **new sites take shape in hours instead of days**, because components and content are reusable.

### Storyblok in one sentence

Storyblok with Digit-One means: a CMS where your team **designs independently**, with components from us that make sure **nothing breaks**.

## Storyblok or Sanity: how to find out

Both are first-class headless CMS, and we work with both. Five questions help you decide:

- **Who maintains the content?** If your marketing team likes to design pages itself and visually, that speaks for Storyblok. If structured content comes first, it speaks for Sanity.
- **How important is the page preview?** Storyblok is visual-first: editing means seeing. Sanity offers visual editing too, but its focus is a studio that fits your content types exactly.
- **How many pages, brands and languages?** Many websites sharing components and content are a strength of Storyblok. Content that should also run in an app, a shop or other channels is a strength of Sanity.
- **How individual does the editing environment have to be?** Storyblok brings a proven editor with guardrails. Sanity Studio is configured like code: your content types, your roles, your approval paths.
- **How does your team work together?** Sanity is strong at real-time collaboration, with several people working on the same content. Storyblok offers roles and workflow stages for clear editorial processes.

In the end your project counts, not the table. You'll find the detailed comparison in the [CMS comparison](https://www.digit-one.com/en/headless-cms-comparison), and more on the alternative on our [Sanity page](https://www.digit-one.com/en/web/headless-websites/sanity).

## How we build with Storyblok

It starts with the **component concept**: which building blocks does your team need to create every page for years to come? From that grows the design system, then the implementation with Next.js, including visual editing that works live.

Everything is tested on a **dedicated staging environment** before anything goes live, and after go-live we stay on board: operations, maintenance and further development come from the same house. Migrating from an existing CMS? We do that regularly, including **data transfer and SEO preservation via a redirect concept**.

## Switching to Storyblok: how it works

You already have a website, for example on WordPress or TYPO3, and want to switch? Then we proceed in five steps so that content and visibility arrive safely:

1. **Audit:** We capture content, structure, addresses and rankings of your current website and clarify what stays, what goes and what is new.
2. **Content model:** From that we develop the components and content types in Storyblok, matching what your team wants to maintain in future.
3. **Transfer:** We move content and files by script or by hand, depending on what pays off.
4. **Review:** We test on a dedicated staging environment, check the transferred content and compare it with the old site.
5. **Redirects and launch:** Every old address gets a destination on the new website, we test the redirects and take care of canonicals and sitemap. After launch we watch indexing and rankings. Afterwards we stay on board for operations and further development.

How that looks for your website, we're happy to clarify in a first conversation.

## Storyblok in action: b_smart

The b_smart hotel group runs more than 20 hotels and motels on a single Storyblok instance. What that means in practice:

- **One instance, many locations:** Global content is maintained once and delivered everywhere, location-specific content lives in its own folders.
- **Two languages, several brand looks:** One design system with shared components, colour and shape language per brand.
- **New locations in hours instead of days:** Configuration, a starter scaffold, content editing and the go-live settings are all it takes.
- **Tested and awarded:** More than 150 usability and functional tests before launch, plus the German Web Award for the project.

Let's talk

Let's talk about your project

[hello@digit-one.com](mailto:hello@digit-one.com)

## What is Storyblok?

Storyblok is a headless CMS with a visual editor: content is managed separately from presentation, yet your team still edits it directly in the real page view. The company comes from Austria (Linz) and was founded in 2017. Today Storyblok is used worldwide by brands of every size.

### What does Storyblok cost?

Two things to keep apart: you pay the Storyblok licence directly to Storyblok. There is a free entry plan for tests and small projects; business websites usually need a paid tier, depending on team size and feature set. [Current prices](https://www.storyblok.com/pricing) are listed by Storyblok. The project costs for concept, design and implementation are calculated transparently per project, depending on scope, components and integrations. We'll walk you through both honestly in a first conversation.

### Storyblok or Sanity: which fits us?

Both are first-class headless CMS, and we work with both. The rule of thumb: **Storyblok** if your team wants to design visually (visual editor, landing page speed, multi-site). [**Sanity**](https://www.digit-one.com/en/web/headless-websites/sanity) if structured content and a tailor-made studio come first. The honest recommendation comes after a look at your project.

### Can we really maintain content ourselves?

Yes, that's the core of Storyblok: your team **sees the real page while editing** and builds new pages from ready-made components, no technical knowledge needed. Our components make sure everything stays on brand. Training at the start is included; after that, you only need us for what's genuinely new.

### How long does a Storyblok project take?

That depends on scope: a focused website with a clear component set is **live within a few weeks**, while complex multi-site or multilingual setups take correspondingly longer. Thanks to the component principle, things move fast after launch: every additional page is a matter of hours, not days.

### Do you migrate existing websites to Storyblok?

Yes, regularly. We start with an **audit of content, structure and rankings**, plan the data transfer and protect your visibility with a clean redirect concept. Whether WordPress, TYPO3 or another system: the move is craftsmanship, and we do it properly.

### How do multilingual content and multi-site work in Storyblok?

Storyblok knows three approaches: languages per field, per folder or per space, and they can be combined. For several locations or brands, a single instance works well: global content is maintained once, and location-specific content lives in its own folders. Translations can be published individually, so one language can go live while the next is still in progress. Which variant fits you depends on the number of languages, brands and editing teams. We clarify that in the concept, before the first component is built.

### Is Storyblok GDPR-compliant, and where is the data stored?

Storyblok states that it is GDPR-compliant and provides a data processing agreement. It is hosted on AWS with data centres in Europe (Germany), among other regions; which region is available depends on the plan. Storyblok is also ISO 27001 certified. Details are in Storyblok's [Trust Center](https://www.storyblok.com/trust-center). The data protection picture of a website covers more than the CMS, though, for example frontend hosting, tracking and forms. We go through that together in the concept. The legal assessment remains with your data protection officer.

### What happens after go-live?

We stay on board if you want us to: operations, maintenance and further development come from the same house, with no handover to another team. Your team gets training at the start, so editors and marketing can maintain pages themselves and build new ones. What comes later, such as new components, more languages or additional locations, we plan in small steps instead of starting over each time. What support looks like in detail, we define together in the project.
